August run throughs

Weekend workshops and run-throughs!!

Saturday August 17

10-1:00 Mock trial run throughs
Is your dog a little "trial savvy"? He does his contacts perfectly in classes and at home?
Do you have a young or green dog you want to expose to different environments or just come out and have some fun?
Newbies to agility and competition. Come volunteer and learn the ins and outs of agility trials. Learn the different jobs needed to keep a trial going. Agility trials are run by volunteers and can't go on without you.
These run throughs will be held trial style with ring crew, judge, timer scribe etc.

register just so we have an idea of how many dogs/handlers are coming. You should get between 2-3 runs. Pay the day of the event

Lisa St. Aubin, DVM, MPVM, CVSMT
Dr. Lisa St. Aubin graduated veterinary school from the University of
California at Davis with a dual degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and a
Master's in Preventive Veterinary Medicine(MPVM).  After practicing small
animal and exotic medicine for two years in California, she re-located
back to the east coast to complete a one year internship in aquatic animal
medicine at the Mystic Aquarium in Mystic CT, followed by a one year
position at the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence RI.  Since that
time, she has worked at various small animal and exotic practices as a
relief veterinarian, but her passion has always remained with improving
the function and performance of canine athletes.   In order to pursue
advanced training in veterinary spinal manipulative therapy (also known as
chiropractic medicine), Dr. St. Aubin recently received her VSMT
certification from the Healing Oasis Wellness Center (HOWC).   The HOWC is
the only private school that provides state approved programs and that is
accredited under the US Department of Education by the Accrediting Council
for Continuing Education and Training (www.accet.org
<http://www.accet.org/>). This is an intense 226 hour post- graduate
education and certification program with an emphasis in functional and
integrative neurology in both canine and equine patients as it applies to
VSMT.  In addition, Dr. St. Aubin is a certified member of the College of
Dr. St. Aubin has a special interest in performance and working dogs and
increasing their quality of life as well as their endurance capabilities.
She shares her home with her Border Collie, Riley J Dog and a Dutch
Shepherd, Maicoh. She trains and competes in various canine sports
including agility, French Ring, stock and dock diving.

2:00-5:00 Agility Handling Foundations

 
For young dogs and puppies of all ages. Give your dog the proper foundation for handling right from the start. A different twist for teaching your young dogs. Do you have a green dog that has too much handlers focus or obstacle focus? This "twist" of training will give you and your dogs the knowledge of how to go back and forth between handler and obstacle focus when needed.

Rear crosses

Trouble with rears? Is your dog not reading it or do you need help with mechanics? In this class, you will have a better understanding of the different types of rear crosses whether it's no motion, rear on the flat or straight line rear cross.

Contacts-Let's be clear

Does your dog hold his contacts at home or in training but not at a trial? Do you know what releases your dog from his contacts? Learn how to time your releases just right so your dog knows exactly what is going to release him to run the course.
The dogwalk and teeter will be the main focus of this workshop

6-7:30 Novice/Advanced Handling (8) Starting 7/30


This is a novice level course that will include short drills with all obstacles. At least one contact obstacle and/or weave poles will be included in the sequences. Dogs should be doing all obstacles and handlers have an understanding of terms/cues. Also an introduction to internationals skills


7:30-9 Masters Handling (8) Starting 7/30


Masters level course work including some international style handling skills. Dogs should be competing in the Masters/Excellent level
