Do USDAA Masters Challenge courses stump you? Once you learn how to handle them, you will understand these technical courses.

 1-2:30 Masters Handling (8) Starting 6/17

Masters level course work with the introduction and introduction of some international style handling skills. Dogs should be competing in the Masters/Excellent level.

6-7 Agility Foundations II (6) Starting 7/8

This is a continuation of Agility Foundations. Progression of obstacle training and handling will be the focus of this class. Handling is taught with cones and tunnels and obstacles are taught separately. Dogs should be able to work off leash in this class.

 

7-8:30 Agility Basics (6) Starting 7/8

This class follows Foundation II. Dogs will begin their sequencing using jumps and tunnels. Contact and weave pole training will progress.

Tuesdays

(12:30-2:30 Private lessons)

11:00-12:30 Novice handling/Obstacle basics (8) Starting 6/11

This is a “tweener” class where the dogs are sequencing with jumps and tunnels and contacts and weave poles are still in the “training stage”. Dogs will finish up their training and begin sequencing with all obstacles. This is where it will all come together

6-7:30 Novice Handling (8) Starting 7/30

This is a novice level course that will include short drills with all obstacles. At least one contact obstacle and/or weave poles will be included in the sequences. Dogs should be doing all obstacles and handlers have an understanding of terms/cues.

7:30-9 Masters Handling (8) Starting 7/30

Masters level course work with the introduction and introduction of some international style handling skills. Dogs should be competing in the Masters/Excellent level

Anna Eifert International Handling seminars!

The Agility Facility is hosting Anna Eifert for 5 days. 3 days in CT and 2 days in NH

About Anna:
I started doing agility in 1999, with my Miniature Bull Terrier male Giovanni. I ran huge Belgian Sheperds and one small Schipperke too, belonging to my friend, achieved with them the FCI World Championship (2005 Valladolid – Flört; 2008 Helsinki – April; 2009 Dornbirn – Chester). The dog of my life is Nevian, a very unique smooth Border Collie female. She was born in 2004 and took the Silver medal in 2006 at the FCI World Championship in Basel. After it, we have been each year in the National Team, won a lot of trials in lot of countries – National Championship, Crufts, IABC, IFCS Biathlon etc. – but the most important thing that I still have the feeling after each run she’s so special! Last year I got a new present from God: Dú is a Miniature Bull Terrier female with Border Collie brain and Terrier spirit. She learns everything very easily and I’m sure we will have a lot of fun at agility trials! Our first trial will be in February 2013.
I’m holding agility seminars since 2007.
As always I want to show my whole handling and teaching system, combining with European style courses, focusing on active and positive handling with different kinds of „blind” crosses. My idea is the good handler knows everything and therefore can choose the best solution at trials. The participants will learn how to find the ideal line and shaping the line close to the dog/obstacle and far away from the dog/obstacle.

2008 - Border Collie Classic , Netherlands – 2. place
2010 – Crufts, Great Britain – 1. place (British Open and International)
2010 – Hungarian National Champion

June 5-Masters level handling-This handling seminar is geared towards dog running at the Masters level with a little International flair. Great for handlers who want a challenge but don't plan on competing at the International level-2 Openings

June 6-International sequences-This seminar will focus on common sequences found on International courses and how to handle them. This seminar will keep you sharp with your handling-1 Opening

Use of Motion

Saturday June 1
 9-5
Motion is your biggest cue when running agility.  How you use you motion is so important. You need to understand how your motion affects your dog’s extension and collection. When you have motion forward for to long you get wide turns leading to off courses and knocked rails. Wide turns change your dogs line or path to the next sequence of obstacles.  Deceleration from the handler signals collection. If you don’t support the obstacle you want your dog to take as you decelerate he may get a refusal.  How you move, when you move and where you move sends different info to your dog.  This seminar will cover much of the information you need to teach you and your dog to run a fast and efficient course

Puppies and young dogs-Teach them right the first time

Sunday June 2

8:20-12 Handling with cones or jumps (depending on age/skill level) and tunnels.
Give your dog the proper foundation for handling around a course. Use your cues effectively to direct your puppy around short sequences consisting of cones and tunnels.

12:30-4:00 Contacts
Give your dog great foundation for their contacts. Whether you are just starting out or mid way through your training, this workshop will be very helpful to know you are on the right track.

Puppies should be a minimum of 4 months old

Sunday each workshop $75/team, $35 Auditors limit 10 each

• No frills
• Workshop will be held in the Portland location. Outside on grass in fenced ring. Lots of shady parking spaces and a cool, clean babbling brook
